Acupuncture

$40-80 per treatent (sliding scale)

Acupuncture is the oldest and most commonly used natural medicine in the world. Originating in China more than 2,500 years ago, acupuncture is thoroughly researched and a well respected form of holistic medicine.

According to Chinese Medicine your overall health is defined by the quality of the Qi and Blood which flow through the natural pathways or channels of the body. Acupuncture uses a variety of techniques, including tongue and pulse diagnosis to determine the quality of qi & blood. Placing very thin sterile needles into specific acupuncture points on the body can stimulate or sedate the flow of Qi, bringing the energy of the body into balance.

Some of the many benefits of acupuncture include:

  • Pain reduction
  • Relief from stress and tension
  • Increased energy levels
  • Improved digestion
  • Resolving bad habits and addictions
  • Greater sense of overall health and well-being

Moxibustion

$40-80 per treatment (sliding scale)

Moxibustion is a Traditional Chinese Medicine technique that involves the burning of mugwort, a small, spongy herb, to facilitate healing and health. Moxibustion has been used for healing purposes throughout Asia for thousands of years. The purpose of moxibustion, as with most forms of Traditional Chinese Medicine, is to strengthen the blood, stimulate the flow of Qi (energy), and enhance your overall vitality and health.

Among other benefits, a landmark study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 1998 found that 75.4% of women suffering from breech presentations before childbirth had fetuses that rotated to the normal position after receiving moxibustion at an acupuncture point on the bladder meridian.

Gua Sha

$60 per treatment

Although Gua Sha is an ancient healing technique used by Chinese Medicine practitioners for thousands of years, it is relatively unknown in the West. It is recognized throughout Asia as a highly effective treatment for chronic pain conditions, stress, fatigue, and a host of other ailments.

First, Gua Sha oil is applied to a specific meridian (energy pathway) on your body. I then use a smooth round-edged object (such as a spoon) to apply short brisk strokes to that area. This creates red patches of skin (called "Sha"), detoxifying your blood and restoring the healthy flow if Qi (energy) to the area. There is no pain involved, and the Sha will fade in 2 to 3 days. But the sense of health and vitality you experience from it will last much longer.

Electroacupuncture

$60 per treatment

Electroacupuncture is a highly effective holistic treatment for pain, nausea, and chronic ailments. In practice, it is actually very similar to traditional acupuncture.  Once I insert very thin and sterile needles into specific points along the meridians of your body, I then attach the needles to a device that delivers gentle electrical pulses between two points. This helps restore the healthy flow of Qi (energy) through your body, removing any blockages and clearing out stagnant areas, thus creating a stronger and clearer experience of health and well-being.

Bloodletting

$60-80 per treatment

According to the Nei Jing or Yellow Emperor's Canon of Classical Medicine the removal of blood stagnation by bloodletting is recommended as the first line of action when addressing any condition, especially when dealing with issues of pain.  In Chinese Medicine pain is generally thought of as blood stagnation, which must be removed in order for healthy blood and nourishing fluids to return to the area and surrounding tissues.  Though not commonly practiced by contemporary practitioners of Chinese Medicine, bloodletting may be one of the most important overlooked modalities of modern times.

Bleeding or bloodletting can also help reduce the visibility of spider veins and varicosities, thereby removing the blood stagnation and allowing blood and fluids to travel unimpeded along the channels.

Cupping and Hijama

$80 per treatment

Both dry and wet cupping have been a part of Chinese Medicine for over 2,500 years.  Cupping is a form of massage that helps relieve aches and pains, improves circulation, and also can greatly benefit respiratory and digestive issues.  Dry cupping can include stationary or moving cups that draw out the underlying stagnation at the root cause of acute and chronic pain.

Wet cupping or hijama is an ancient technique known to have been used by the Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him).  The theory of hijama is basically identical to that which was taught and practiced by the ancient Chinese.  Areas on the body are punctured, then a suction cup is placed over the wound to encourage the drawing out of stagnant blood.  This can greatly reduce pain and inflammation, and allow relief to occur on spiritual, emotional, and physical levels.
